The Specialist Path, Made Clearer

Practical tools, recruiting guidance, program research, measurable context, and real specialist stories for kickers, punters, long snappers, and the families navigating the path with them.

Built from firsthand experience navigating the specialist recruiting process.

Specialists Navigate a Different Path

Kickers, punters, and long snappers are often evaluated differently, recruited later, and left with fewer clear answers than athletes at other positions.

Families are expected to understand camps, metrics, film, social media, program fit, communication, and timing; often without knowing which steps actually matter yet.

OTU helps bring those pieces together.

Not by promising offers or manufacturing exposure, but by providing practical resources, specialist context, and honest perspective families can use to make better decisions.

Find the Resource That Fits the Question

  • A modern sports lounge featuring green leather chairs, flat-screen TVs displaying football and video games, a large statue of a bull, and football uniforms on display with the logo 'Of the Uprights' and 'OU' for Oklahoma University, all in a sleek, illuminated setting.

    Understand the Process

Recruiting Guidance helps athletes and families make sense of timing, communication, camps, visits, social media, and the decisions that often create the most uncertainty.

  • A room with a large digital sports analytics display on the wall, showing various statistics about a football game, with a logo of a bison and the words 'OFF THE BRIGHTS'. There are multiple black chairs and wooden tables with notebooks and cups, and outside windows showing a sports field.

    Understand the Numbers

The Specialist Metrics Guide provides context for field goals, kickoffs, punts, and long-snapping measurements—without turning development into another ranking system.

  • A room with an NCAA football team prospect program board on the wall, featuring a map of the United States with colored pins, a list of programs, and categories like Academics, Development, Opportunity, Culture, Fit, and Location marked with sticky notes. The desk has a tablet, notebooks, a pen, a mug with the team's logo, a football, and a plant. Sunlight is coming through a window.

    Research the Landscape

The OTU Program Board helps families explore college football programs by location, division, conference, and association while building a more informed school list.

Built From the Questions My Family Had Too

Off The Uprights grew from firsthand experience helping a specialist navigate the path from high school football to the college level.

I experienced the camps, travel, measurements, film, social media, waiting, uncertainty, family conversations, and constant question of whether we were doing the right things at the right time.

OTU was built to organize what I learned and make the specialist path easier for other families to understand.

Not because every athlete will follow the same route.

Because no family should have to navigate it without context.

Start With the Question in Front of You

You may be trying to understand:

  • Where your athlete stands

  • Which programs to research

  • How to improve a public recruiting presence

  • How to support the process without adding more pressure.

You do not need every answer today.

Choose the resource that helps with the decision directly in front of you.
