OTU Family Perspective

Perspective for the Families

The specialist journey does not belong only to the athlete.

It also belongs to the families driving to camps, rearranging schedules, replaying decisions, carrying unanswered questions, and trying to offer support without adding more pressure.

That is why OTU shares family perspective.

These stories look at the parts of the journey that are often harder to see: the uncertainty between events, the conversations after a difficult day, the cost of chasing every opportunity, the weight of comparison, and the challenge of knowing when to step in and when to give the athlete space.

The goal is not to tell parents how to parent. It is to offer honest perspective from a path many families are trying to understand while they are already living it.

Some seasons bring progress and confidence. Others bring silence, doubt, difficult choices, and the feeling that everyone else seems to know what they are doing. No family moves through the process perfectly, but shared experience can make the path feel less isolating and a little easier to see clearly.

OTU Family Perspective is written for the parents walking beside the athlete—because the work may happen on the field, but the journey is carried by the whole family.
